Learning As I Chop

One Year Ago

One year ago yesterday, H and I were married. 2 months ago (the earliest you can call), I made a reservation here.  I rang before 10am and there were only 2 spots left. Phew! Here are some of my favorite photos from the day. (Editors Note: Like a dingbat, I forgot my memory card, so these shots are via IPhone.)

I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant. Plus look at the view. Coming from the city, we really appreciated this type of afternoon.

Flowering branches own a special place in our hearts, as they were our wedding flowers. Did you know that people specifically marry in April to have these flowers? I was shocked, though they are definitely delicately beautiful.

Now let’s get to the food. Carrot and celery seed salts. These were delicious atop some homemade bread.

I loved the presentation of these farm fresh veggies. The carrots reminded me of The Carrot Seed. Anyone remember this book?

A trio of beets with homemade cottage cheese and salad greens. This was one of my favorite courses, and I’m not usually a beet person. The pistachio added a nice crunch as well.

There was also an egg course with pullet eggs. Did you know the younger the hen, the smaller the egg? But the larger yolk to egg white ratio? I was fascinated.

We had five savory courses, but of course dessert (the sixth course) was my favorite. This was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture. Not sure what to call it, but it was a cheesecake-like parfait made from quark cheese and berries. I was in heaven.

I have been anticipating this meal for a while and it was well worth the wait. I definitely recommend it – whether you’re in NYC or Westchester.  Enjoy!

What a great way to spend your anniversary! I have to take issue with you saying you are a dingbat for forgetting your memory card. Anyone could do that. Hopefully H doesn’t call you a dingbat. If he does, leave him and we can spend our first anniversary at this place together too!
